My day with HIV has been one of recuperating from surgery I had on Friday. Living with HIV/AIDS has been challenging these past 40+ years. Like many of my generation infected during the early years our lives have had many ups and downs. I know mine certainly has. In the beginning, you live with the uncertainty of a future that may never happen. You try to live your life the best you can with that uncertainty. Then you are given a reprieve and your future seems more clear. The problem is you never really allowed yourself to believe you would have a future. Now at the age of 68, I embrace what fate has given me. I meet each challenge head on. Life was never really promised to us so I am thankful for what I have been given.
