Thirty years ago, I wrote an op-ed in my hometown newspaper calling on employers to adopt and promote policies and practices that would attract and support employees who have HIV (and other non-apparent chronic health conditions/disabilities.) Now, I actually get paid to recruit job seekers with disabilities for an employer, Rush University Medical Center, that embraces a diverse workforce that includes people with all types of disabilities, including HIV! For this 53-year-old, living with HIV for 40 years, it’s my dream job.
