Thirty years ago, at age 18, I contracted HIV. At the time, I wasn’t supposed to live past age 25. I knew I would never have a future. Today, I watched my 15-year-old daughter’s volleyball game with my serodiverse (meaning HIV-negative) partner of 25 years. Our daughter was born free of HIV—all thanks to my successful antiretroviral therapy. U=U. Undetectable means Untransmittable.
