Waiting in the doctor’s office. This is for a 6 month follow up with my cardiologist. My days with HIV/AIDS are not very exciting. After 36+ years positive and almost 22 years with an AIDS diagnosis everything is well controlled. Undetectable viral load for over 9 years and a CD4 count that has managed to stay above 200 for over 6 months (finally able to stop Bactrim after 20 years). I spend more time dealing with comorbidities such as depression, HBP, pre-diabetes, heart issues, etc. than I do with HIV. Aging with HIV is not easy. I’m 64 and sometimes feel like I am 70.
